Move to a new data server
The phone carries the warehouse to a new server: when it connects to a new address, its first sync sends the new server everything it has.
Before you switch
On the phone that has everything, while it still syncs with the old server:
- Settings › Sync with the web: turn Sync photos on and Only on Wi-Fi off, then sync.
- Wait until no photos are left to transfer: the app gets the full-size photos it has only small copies of. Only full-size photos on the phone can go to the new server.
Switch
- Start the new server (Run a data server) and add a phone on its Manage page.
- In the app: Settings › Sync with the web › Scan QR code, and scan the new code.
- Pull the list down. The phone sends everything; the photos follow in the background. Photos the server already has (the same file, checked by its SHA-256) aren't sent again.
- Other phones: connect them the same way afterwards. Each sends what it has, and the newer edit of anything wins.
- Claude Code:
claude mcp remove warehouse, then add a token on the new server (see Ask Claude).
Keep the old server's data until everything is on the new one.
A new app
A build of the app with a new name installs beside the old one instead of over it, and starts empty:
- In the old app (its last update has Export settings): connect it to the server the new app will use and sync until no photos are left to send, as above.
- Then Settings › Export settings: the file takes the connection along, so export after switching.
- In the new app: Import settings, which also connects it to the data server, and pull the list down. Everything comes back from the server, photos included.
- Uninstall the old app once the new one has everything.
